Bumbling
Bush

Are there cracks in the
Bush Administration already?
Just weeks after the
Imperial President's declaration that the war in
Iraq was over. General
Garner has long-since been replaced, and now
the tattered remnants
of Saddam Hussein's military forces seem to
be engaged in a guerilla
war that while not militarily effective on
the ground in Iraq,
is eroding Bush's political support at home. -- And
this fact will be made
all the worse if these rogue killers are found to
be operating under the
aegis of Al Qaeda. And not Saddam's old
military command structure.
Meanwhile on the home
front, Bush is willfully allowing his political
"soldiers" to take the
hit for the sixteen untimely words that were in
his State of the Union
Address suggesting that Iraq had tried to acquire
nuclear material from
an African nation. George Tenent, Director of
the Central Intelligence
Agency, and a Clinton appointee of all things,
has already gallantly
fallen on his sword. But, what a disgusting spectacle
it was to see Condeleeza
Rice on television Sunday, doing the talk
show word dance, whilst
stridently trying to protect "her" President.
The final responsibility
for the State of the Union miscue belongs
with the man in the
White House. Afterall, it was his speech. Not
Dr. Rice's or George
Tenent's.
Despite all the bad press
the Bush Administration is receiving right
now, America might still
be ready to forgive the President, for his
over-enthusiastic intelligence
assessment of Saddam's dirty dealings.
But, apparently, admitting
a mistake is beyond the man.
Perhaps Bush believes
his Republican congress will protect him.
Only time will tell
on that score if this problem doesn't go away, ie
the media loses interest
in the story, or WMD's are actually found
in Iraq.
But, of course there
is more that Bush has yet to effectively deal
with. The economy is
a disaster. In only two years the Bush
Administration has run
the deficit to astronomical levels. The projected
shortcomings for this
year alone is an astounding 450 billion
dollars!
The good times of the
Clinton economy are long gone. Admittedly,
both government and
private industry economists alike, predicted
that a recession was
on the way before the former President's term
was over. But what is
happening with the economy now is two years
into George Bush's watch.
Can't blame Clinton anymore.
People are out of work.
And
despite the supposed tightening that
was
done because of September 11th, 2001, undocumented immigrants
still
run-amok. Many of these illegals grab jobs that could legitimately
belong to American citizens
or legal immigrants of what-ever nationality.
And many of these illegals
commit property crimes and worse. These
undocumented wanderers
are a threat to public safety.
The country - in a word
- needs work. The current situation is the
responsibilty of the
President and his minions, to set things right.
To make the proper political
judgements. And to steer the country
back towards prosperity.
A prosperity that
was reality under the democratic administration
of the former
president.
The war against terrorism
is extremely important. Both Usama Bin
Laden and Saddam Hussein
- if he is still alive - have jail cells painted
in their favorite colors,
and waiting for them. But, the economy cannot
be allowed to crumble
in the meanwhile. More attention needs to
be given to what's going
on stateside.
Bush has already fought
his image-building war. Kicked dust -
like the cowboy that
he is - onto the boots of every bad boy he
could find. He has demonstrated
by action, that America's righteous
might is untouched,
thanks in great part to his vision. --- Or
so he thinks.
The scary part is, there's
an election coming sooner, rather than
later. So, how's this
bumbling Head of State going to deal with all
of the dark clouds that
are suddenly appearing over the domestic
homefront?
